Cocquyt College Consulting
Kristin Cocquyt's career in college admissions began in the early aughts as a Senior Intern in the Hamilton College Admissions Office, and she is a lifer. Kristin is known as a trusted coach for students and a patient guide for families. She has been told that her superpower is reducing student stress and increasing student engagement in the college search and application process. Teenagers are Kristin's jam, and through Cocquyt College Consulting, Kristin joyfully collaborates with students and families to support and guide college planning from course selection to college choice. Kristin's student-centered, fit-focused philosophy honors each student’s identity and goals and empowers families to make informed choices throughout the process.
Kristin is a graduate of Hamilton College and Columbia University’s Continuing Professional Studies, Teachers College Online College Advising Program. Throughout Kristin's 15 years as a school-based college counselor (Director of College Counseling at Allendale Columbia School, NY and Assistant Director of College Counseling at the Academy of the Holy Cross, MD ), she advised over 600 students and families through the college search and application process and visited over 200 colleges across the US and abroad. It is easy for Kristin to see the good (and the potential!) in all students—and in all colleges.
Kristin prioritizes connecting with colleagues and the ever-changing admissions landscape through the Independent Educational Consultants Association and the National Association of College Admission Counseling. Kristin also served as an Admission Counselor at Gettysburg College and gigged as an Application Reader for Rochester Institute of Technology and as an Essay Reviewer for Bright Horizons College Coach, but her true passion is connecting 1:1 with students through their individual college planning journey.
