Thomas College Counseling

In her more than 30 years working in college admission and in independent schools both teaching and counseling, Katie has helped myriad students and their families through the wild-and-wacky college admission process. She encourages students to reflect, to develop self-awareness and agency, to practice independence and responsibility, and to confidently craft a college list that will ensure college choices that include academic, social, and financial fit.

As a school-based counselor for many years, Katie served on College Counselor Advisory Boards for the University of Georgia, Dickinson College, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Miami, Bryant University, and Grinnell College. Katie has visited hundreds of college campuses in her career, both in the U.S. and abroad, and she loves helping students see the various possibilities that one's path can take throughout this process.

Katie is a professional member of NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling), RMACAC (Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling), HECA (Higher Education Consultants Association), and serves on the Board for the College Consultants of Colorado. Katie believes that forging and maintaining relationships with other counselors and admission officers is professionally critical as we continue to learn about new and exciting developments in the ever-changing world of college counseling. Katie launched Thomas College Consulting in 2020 and loves working with students from around the country (on Zoom with the company of Stella, her Rottweiler/Black Lab rescue pup!) now that she is an Independent Educational Consultant.

Katie graduated with a B.A. in Modern Languages and Political Science from Knox College and holds her MA in Global Affairs from the University of Denver.

Advice: Crafting a smart-and-balanced college list will ensure fantastic options.
